Bakso Sapi (Beef meatball) CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE

A favorite of President Obama when he was living in Indonesia as a child, these tender and tasty beef meatballs are sold in Indonesia by peddlers on wheels. Thaw completely, boil in water or beef broth (recipe to follow), and enjoy while it's hot.

Made from beef, tapioca flour, garlic, and pepper.
One pound contains approximately 25 meatballs.

Beef broth: 2 lbs beef leg bones (or use your favorite flavor pack), 2 quarts water, 4 cloves garlic, 1/2 teaspoon white pepper, Salt to taste (1 1/2 -2 teaspoon)

Bring water to a boil, then add the beef bones, salt, garlic, and pepper. Bring to boil again, then lower the heat and simmer for at least 2 hours.

Add meatballs just prior to serving to avoid overcooking. Garnish with sliced green onions and/or fried onions. Bean thread or rice vermicelli may be added.
