Empek-empek, sometimes shortened Pempek, is savoury fishcake delicacy from Palembang, Sumatera, made from fish and tapioca.
Budiman Food makes them from scratch (from fresh mackerel fish), not from processed fish paste.
Pempek is served with yellow noodles and kuah cuka, a dark, rich, sweet-and-sour sauce (included). This variety of pempek is kapal selam (lit. "submarine") with a whole egg inside.
Two empek-empek per order.
Heating Instructions: We recommend that you fry or steam the empek-empek for the best results. Microwave heating is not recommended.
